It was much nicer after we left the road, but we did take a forced afternoon siesta while the world rained and hailed on us. We are now secure in the fact that our Ray-way Tarp is awesome, as it has now sheltered 4 people (and packs) at once, twice the number it was designed for (though it was tight).
We chose a nice campsite overlooking the Buffalo Creek burn area and the South Platte river. We had our favorite trail dinner, chili-mac, for dinner. Janelle and Nathan aren't so impressed. Pooh.
We hiked about 13.5 miles today. We're taking it easy on the tender feet.

On behalf of Janelle and Myself (henceforth known as "Nathan") we did actually find the consumption of the chili mac quite pleasing to the gustatory senses. Perhaps we did not engage in sufficient celebratory vocalizations to express our non-displeasure with the aforementioned conglomerate of beef, noodles, cheese, beans and spices?
In case the previous comment was not enough, I felt compelled to produce and ode, as follows:
Ode To Chili-Mac
We raise our chewy water,
in un-solemn ablution
To corn, quinoa, beef and beans
(may the latter not cause "pollution")
Leave not the chili powder,
(use not a trifling measure)
That magic red alchemy
yields gustatory pleasure.
With this dehydrated wonder
most gladly fill your pack,
O choicest hiker's pasta -
All Hail Chili-Mac!
